Atlantis

01 October 2012 - 11:28 PM

The purpose of this thread is not to debate the Location_of_Atlantis. It is to discuss and share opinions on its Culture, Race, Related myths of the 'Lost Civilization' kind, have your say on its Influence on Fiction, even give you the boost of creativity on the literary side! (e.g. Mythopoeia & Science Fiction), some Atlantis Inspired music (Therion), Not to mention all the Art that is possible from this magical concept!

Also if you have an book/website/blog/video recommendations are appreciated!

Here is a quote that I stumbled apon recently that is of relevance. Author is Tsirk Susej in his -delusion's of grandeur- book Demonic Apocrypha in the chapter concerning the Draconian Tradition:

Quote

Atlantis plays a significant role in the draconian tradition. Arab geographers refered to

Atlantis as the Dragon's Isle and this prehistorical civilisation were said to be ruled by

seven "serpent kings". Some occultist connects Atlantis to the myth of the fallen angels

or the Red Dragon of the Revelation. The forces should have given Man knowledge and

power to rise a civilisation like Atlantis. The common moral of the Atlantis myth is that

the hybris of Man made Atlantis to sink to the bottom of the ocean. The draconian

tradition is sometimes said to have originated in Atlantis. After the catastrophe this

tradition has, throughout history, been carried on like a torch between initiated adepts of

the Left Hand Path . The Atlantis myth reminds of the qabalistic myths. There are similar

numerologies and mythological motifs.

I’m Shure there must be at least a few people here who are interested and know allot about this Myth. It is a great myth mystery, the original Utopia, which is always enduring and even though I think that it should not be taken as a literal place but rather as one of the ultimate stories ever to spark the imagination! So can anyone please recommend a book to read? (preferably an eBook PDF file! - I can’t afford shipping cost to South Africa / or our rogue Customs workers go on strike)

Environment Changes Your Perception?

18 September 2012 - 12:13 PM

The Past
By growing up most of my life in a nice temperate capital city of my country (South Africa), having grown accustomed to the noises of the aero planes, the trucks & taxis, the pollution, the always busy schedules and hustle of the city and having to drive usually 4km – 16km to get from work, friends, nightclubs etc…
The Present
To a rural farming community 500 km from there at a place known primarily for; being a town at the border of Mozambique and right at the edge of the Kruger_National_Park . Also having one of the hottest climates in SA (Reports of: 48ºC / 118.40ºF) .The people are ultra conservative (I think so). And yea a heavy old dose of apartheid racism still lingers with a visible distinction here with the masochistic white Boers and the un-educated Black criminals Hahaha!

So I had a ‘complete’ change in lifestyle. And strangely (unexpectedly) I am noticing a definite change in my perception in terms of intuition (“feeling” or “sensing” for lack of better words) things out ALLOT more often than what I used to. Also all this new sensory input I am receiving, which I would say I allot, leads me to come across many, many coincidences lately…
I cannot explain it, but I would pin it upon one of these reasons: I Stopped smoking. Started to exercise. Quit my SSRI’s. Or lastly somehow this primeval hot landscape is complementing my Leo Fire qualities in ways I can only guess at.

So I'll end this with a Question:
Has by changing environments on a long term basis ever bought noticeable effects to your Psyche?

Creating Your Own Tarot Set

29 August 2012 - 10:22 AM

Yo people! I want to ask if anyone here has ever created his own Tarot card set? (Your own original set OR even just getting all the images online and printing them)

The reason I ask; is because I really dislike my Marseille tarot deck that I have always used (for 8 years, 3-6 times a year). It’s in French, the imagery is dull and it is impossible sometimes to tell if the Rod and Pentacle cards are reversed or not!
Also I think it will be a great way to get to know your cards and what they mean much easier. (After 8 years of using 1 tarot deck I still have to check in my book what the cards mean... :-/)

Phil Hine says creating your own magical tools/crafts/you know is one of the most fun and rewarding things about magical practice. And I agree, nothing beats your own wand you walked 2 km to get and carved to perfection. Scrying Bowl / Black Mirror / Ritual Robes... all those things you used your personal/unique touch to create. Not to mention your Altar space which you day dream about lovingly always thinking of how it can improve…

So if one of you have done (and finished it) can you please explain or advise me on the practical stuff, like: How big the cards must be (cm / pixels), did you use a template (if so where can I get one?) did you print with normal paper (a front + a back) and cover the cards all with a plastic cover what what?!? Start from the beginning I guess! :-D

EDIT – Typos...

A 75 000 Year Old South African Stone Calendar

29 June 2012 - 04:36 PM

Well this isn't actually new, but it is interesting and rather general.

Quote

South Africa has its own version of stone circle ruins and an allegedly 75 000 year old stone calendar that can be found in Mpumalanga amongst ancient stone circle ruins. Adam’s Calendar, named by the two South Africans who discovered the find, is reportedly the oldest manmade structure predating the Giza Pyramids. It was apparently discovered by a firefighting pilot when searching for a colleague’s plane which went down near the site in 2003, he noticed strange-looking stone monoliths which looked out of place in the area.

A few academics have had a look at the site and doubt that it is a human built structure, likewise there are apparently some geologists, archaeologists and astrologers who believe that there may be more to it. Some believe that the site ties up with an era when human beings first started painting in caves and started their migration into Europe and Asia from Africa between 60 000 and 70 000 years ago.

Could South Africa become the new Egypt, where archaeologists and astrologers will come to do research into a whole new period of human development?

One of the problems with this site is that the so called "Expert" and guy who has studied this place the most and written a couple of books about this is very biased opinion about it, making all sorts of references and connections with unrelated information and drew parallels that are not there, but maybe through an obsession and seeing what you want to see has formed his origins of this historical place.
It’s a sacrilege by selling this to the uninformed public claiming he has the answer by going on tours with the public and using all sorts of technical and random jargon words of ancient civilizations and speaks talks in such an inchohesive way about such unrelated small bits of history and mythology whilst throwing in the odd number in it and claiming the importance of this number that he picks out of his ass - all so to make him look like he knows what he is talking about because to produce the: "Ahh! I have no idea what he is talking about so he must be rather informed about such things Fanny Dear"
Check out his site if you want... http://www.michaelte...ms-calendar.php

Tellinger published his first book Slave Species of God in 2005. The work is the result of a 25-year obsession with the writings of Zecharia Sitchin

Hello! A Little Bit About Myself ^^

23 June 2012 - 04:41 PM

Well I’ll give you a quick overview of my past working with the left hand path forces and the occult then you can decide if you would like to contact me and perhaps form a partnership of magical rituals and/or esoteric and occult studies and sharing of information :-]
I started with Theistic Satanism 4/5 years ago, the first 2 years I learned all I could about the satanic way of life, like you know – “Do no harm to others” did not apply to us, lots of blasphemous ranting at Christians and so on. But I also follow the Magic practices (which honestly don’t differ much between all offshoot faiths… like a Satanist must do various meditations, raise his own energy max cap, open his chakras, stay balanced, learn to receive and send energy and so forth… which the Hermeticsm, Thelema, Paganism, Luciferianism and even Hindus and Buddhists agree that this is THE way lol, with just basically slightly different techniques and philosophies and ideologies attached to them)

Well the next 3 years I was more open minded, studying all sorts of occult knowledge and trying to build a better picture in my mind all while still continuing to be my own biggest interest as I strove to self-discovery. I try not to hold any mental and emotional blocks so I won’t see the truth and what’s in front of me with biased prejudice. Like for an example of allot of satanic website there is allot of hate and slander directed at the Monotheists, which sort of gets ingrained into you, brainwashes you to think a certain way.. Well that is not objective and incorrect in my book, might as well just go on faith alone! So yea I 'try' to be open minded of all spiritual matters. I even have no more bad feeling towards Christians no more. It’s their faith that I dislike, not the person practising it (unless they are a zealot ofc). I have become more accepting of other peoples beliefs, even if I don’t like or agree with them, I always listen to the whole story first and not make an outburst of "your wrong, this is the way it is" which I used to do allot when I was younger, challenging their beliefs. It didn’t make me allot of friends xD
With working with Demons, Elementary and Planetary spirits:
I have evocated 2 Goetic Demons and Invocated 1 as well. All too varying success.
My system of Ritual is eclectic, with influences from Basic Satanic Ritual structure, leister Crowley’s Liber 777 style and a lesser known technique of the Qliphoth (Dark Qabbalism)
I did try to evocate a real old pagan god when I was in Israel touring there. But I got no results hahaha, although that didn’t put me off!
I can manipulate energy pretty well. That I something I started practicing early on, as I knew that that was one of the 3 main components in magic.
My knowledgebase is Above Average in the Occult world, Studying and researching I ENJOY. Learning was never a problem for me concerning these matters, I read allot of books about various fields of study (get the good ones online and just print them, I’m Shure you know South Africa doesn’t have great books about the Left Hand Path ;]) like divination with Astrology, Hydromancy, Tarot, and the Nordic Runes (I have my own Scrying Bowl, Tarot and Futhark rune set…), Cultures, Ancient history, Physics and Meta-Physics, Geology (walking and hiking I think is great. Also you get the best ritual spots in Nature.)

My Knowledge is good in the areas of: Satanism, Ritual setup and style(getting the best possible date, time, elements involved and planetary correspondences) with a selected entity’s qualities right, and about the Qliphoth and Chaos Magic’s general principal (I am not afraid of the Destructive chaotic forces, powers of the dark esoteric kind is extremely dangerous, but if you face the fear attached to them these Creative Destructive and labelled very evil Gods can give you wisdom that the light esoteric paths cannot. Example of this is Draconian/Typhonian and Luciferian magic. Also Goetic summon from the Lesser Key of Solomon.
My Knowledge is poor in: MESO and NEO-Paganism, Hermeticm, Qabbalism (the Hermetic kind... not the Christian or Jewish way), Astral Projection.
Little Knowledge of: Thelema (know only a few of Crowley’s works), Wicca and this “New-Age” bullshit, those two piss me off, they are so fickle and superstitious beliefs and they give the serious Magus a bad image of Tree hugging hippie image of nonsense. I prefer the image that society gives as of the ‘Devil worshipping Satanist’ lol! Better that they are afraid of what they do not understand then to deceptively tell everybody that there just Green Peace Fanatics or Nudists in private who like to get together for swinger parties!

My knowledge is ‘non-existent’ in: All the eastern paths (they never have, nor I think ever will interest me much, maybe Buddhism is ok, but all I know of it is the stereotypical monk spending half his life in Tibet becoming a master a meditation and being very compassionate people, I think of all Buddhists as sort of like that somehow…). I also know very little about the “Indigenous Paths”. And then there are some terms I have never even heard of before! “Cybermancy, Technomagick, Electric Alchemy, Electric Paganism, Technosophy, Cryptozoology and Cthulhu Mythos”? HP Lovecraft has his own religion dedicated to his work? Damn.. I have read a few of his stories, yeah were a kind of primeval fear in them, but I mean it was just fiction… It’s a head-scratcher to me!
So yea that’s me. I am a true representation of my star sign: Leo. Which I complain to everyone I talk to who like Astrology – that I don’t want to be a Leo! They have too much pride, are egocentric, and can be unpleasant when they don’t get the attention they need. Sigh. It Might sound a bit weird, extreme or even delusional to you, but if you get to know me I like to be a bit extravagant when I am writing, which I really like, as you can see by the length of this letter. Oh yeah and I am a paramedic if you wonder what work I do, Also a qualified massage therapist and Psychic Counsellor just for interest sake, but I don’t really like healing people so much, I only like to save their lives, not to heal their emotional/mental or spiritual wellbeing so much! ^^
EDIT - Had to change what I know and don’t know quite a bit after surfing this site for a few hours. I used to think that no one knows about these things that I am so interested in, they are definitely not over here in 3rd world South Africa! So yes I think I have found my intellectual home here at Occult Corpus!!
