I've studied and practiced magick, one way or another, for nearly 35 years. I completed a Ph.D. program in experimental psychology with an emphasis on cognitive neuroscience in 2010. I then completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship studying questions around cognitive and behavioral flexibility, with implications for neuropsychiatric disorders that are characterized by inflexibility in thought and behavior, such as OCD, ADHD, and addiction.
From the summer of 2012, I worked on a second fellowship with a narrower focus on the biological mechanisms of addiction. I've accepted a teaching appointment for the 2013-2014 academic year at a lovely liberal arts college in the Pacific Northwest, where I'll be teaching undergraduate courses in psychology, research methods, and statistics, while contemplating my research and further career aspirations.
I've continued teaching psych and statistics courses since 2013 and have more or less decided against pursuing further formal research opportunities. I've kept my teaching load relatively light have been working on more personal, artistic pursuits (music and various forms of visual art). Last year I started working with my partner on a custom engraving business, which is gradually taking shape.
