I am fairly new to the occult, and I want to learn how to talk to a spirit, out loud. The spirit can be any human spirit, it doesn't have to be a specific person. I also wish to talk to the spirit alone, so a seance or medium won't work. That being said, My main question is:

Is talking to a spirit out loud possible, and how should I go about doing it?

I would love a step by step ritual guide as an answer to this, but if that is asking to much, please link any book that contain the ritual I would perform. If you require more information from me I would be happy to give it.
(If you link a book, I would prefer if it could be read online, because acquiring it physically would not work for my current situation)

Also, I have a photo I got from a random website ages back, of a supposed step by step guide to contacting a spirit of a dead person.

Some people claim they hear spirits talking out loud, but it seems to be rather a rare thing. If you don't already hear spirits talking, I'm doubtful that you can learn how by following anyone's step by step guide.

I'm interested to know why you want that, if you care to explain.

I'm just curious really. I was always interested ghost stories. I am hoping to learn how to communicate with spirits because it was always fascinating to me.

In the link, #1-3 make clear that this should not be attempted for anything except an important reason. Not the best place for it, but in my thoughts the only sensible uses for necromancy are to discover where granny buried the loot or get a clue in a mysterious death. There is a persistent fantasy trope in which a person seeks after a dead beloved through mysticism, Houdini style, but in my experience people resolve family issues with the dead without the need for rituals and spells, and so much of the lore of ghosts comes from these small but meaningful encounters.

#4... You will have to do more than wear black to avoid being detected in most cemeteries. Getting to know the groundskeeper works better, and working to restore or maintain the cemetery also adds some assurance that you're not out exhuming bodies for rituals. Again, if it's not important, it's not worth the risk on one hand or the work on the other.

#5... You pay the dead person for the grave dirt, make as little noise as possible, and use the dirt to form a circle around yourself.

#6... At this point you have made a circle three times, chanting the name of the deceased. You are then left on bare feet, alone in the dark, among the dead.

#7... Compare this section to "The Oath" chapter in Crowley's Magick, with which this author was undoubtedly familiar. The theory is that the spirit will respond to the insistence of your appeal, not to some tedious prolonged ritual. If a dead person were going to appear, that would seem the ideal circumstances, right? But I think there is more to it than creating Halloween conditions and saying a few words. You are barefoot and probably cold, or terrified, and expectant. All of that leads up to your body chemistry being so out of whack that you lose your regular sense of the world and its boundaries. You no longer feel like you are off the highway somewhere, but alone in a terrifying place, with fear of discovery and uncertainty in everything. That has a powerful effect on the way you process information, and the natural effects of mist in the darkness competing for dominion with your tiny lamp are going to produce a confusion that could reasonably allow you to conceive of watchful faces and familiar voices. I expect that getting those things to appear, and then to take advantage of the opportunity to your advantage, is more up to your input in the situation than the specific spell or ritual you use to get there.
