I'm mainly a ceremonial magician, but recently I've been shown a few very interesting hoodoo rituals, and they've peaked my curiosity. Does anyone have any good book recommendations or other resources for learning more about hoodoo? I've searched this, and another occult forum I frequent and haven't found much, apparently good information on hoodoo is hard to come by. <_<

luckymojo.com has an extensive library on hoodoo. Also, Cats book "Hoodoo Herb and Magic":

Catherine Yronwood also has a course on Hoodoo which I am taking at the moment and that helps a lot to learn the principles behind it. They do have a forum also which you can search, read and learn.

I will second Mea -- Lucky Mojo is a goldmine for information on Hoodoo. Don't be misled by the commercial nature of the site (although it is also an excellent source for hard to find ingredients). Cat Yronwode knows her stuff, and that site is a labor of love.

Locally here on OC, I recommend looking at threads and posts by AppalachianCrone who is a seasoned practitioner.

My boyfriend is diggin Hoodoo at the moment and I know he really enjoyed the works of E.A. Koetting, especially The Spider & the Green Butterfly.
What could help you too, to find out what hoodoo is actually about, is to observe around you if there couldn't be a cult going on in your city. If you know anyone who's haitian ask them, they might know something. In my province, traditional hoodoo faith is fairly common in the haitian community ( a survey from the 80's said about 70%). Since you might not be as luckier (and not that bold, as me), i recommand preparing yourself a safe excuse to ask so as it might be socially taboo.

:) good luck exploring this new path!

Here's a couple of blogs of actual practitioners.

P.S: Lucky Mojo is great.
One of the first sites I've discovered regarding hoodoo, the course is great as well and goes in-depth
to some of the techniques not shared in the site.
