Which sounds very similar to the current pattern of law enforcement acting on behalf of corporate interests if the statement about
megaupload is true.

And if it is, then its a sign these guys are pretty much are the government and that the current political system is nothing more then a circus to distract us, the public from the actual mechanisms of power in The US (and if I dare say, The West).

Anonymous fights Internet censorship and wins. Pressure from the international Internet hacktivist collective known as Anonymous has forced the EU to suspend their efforts to ratify ACTA, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.

Forget that. This maniacal, all-consuming system is hardly confined to western civilization anymore. It's gone world-wide. Even the so-called "socialist" states who were founded in opposition to capitalism are under the thumb of the Dinosaur (to refer to that Wikipedia article you linked, ps. I know dinosaurs don't have thumbs). China and their former Cold War allies haven't been remotely socialist for several decades. Cuba, which had resisted the system much longer than most states managed (mostly due to necessity from the U.S. blockade) has over the years been "caving" as well. It's not easy trying to live separate from this machine when it exists to consume all.

Hell, pretty much the only place the econo-indsutrio-politico-corporo-mechamonster can't quite reach with its claws these days is the good ol' DPRK (North Korea) and of course the people there face an entirely different brand of insane oppression, one all their own.

Oppression for profit or Oppression for an ideal. Whats the difference?

Maybe even less than you think. Often the profiteers truly believe in the ideals of their network of profit-making. And I can assure you that the Kim dictatorial dynasty in DPRK, while espousing a certain ideal of their own, profit like mad off of their little national racket they have going. Money's not the only kind of profit you know, it just happens to be the most popular at the moment.

That's because they're not socialists... They're communists. They're entirely different beasts, even if communists claim to have socialistic ideals. It's like comparing a fundamentalist christian to a Jew... supposedly they have the same insane god, and share a large number of the same books, with the same start for their list of do-nots... but they're far too different to ever work together.

It's pretty sad what reactionary governments do to good ideas.
