I tried your variations to the kechari mudra. The one that seems to give the best results so far is the second one. the third one seems to help in empowering the frontal area of the brain and it looks like it helps for clairvoyance. not sure though. I still need to try out a few things. And I see u turned this thread into a blog post. Good idea! Let's get people interested. I believe that mapping out exactly which energy practices lead to what results is fundamental in determining what would come as close as possible to a perfect empowering system for the subtle bodies.
Now another aspect that I want to talk of is sound. I rarely chant when meditating, and I believe it might account for the fact that I can't yet perfectly see auras. But one thing is for sure. The mantras are NOT only for self-hypnotic purposes like some authors claim. Although I'll admit that the fixation of the mind on the repetitive process of chanting only one word over and over again might lead to self-induced trances, I believe that the most important aspect is the vibration released with the word. I'll open another thread specifically for this, and I'll post the link here later on, but for now let's touch one or two aspects of the subject.
I noticed that different sounds bring up different vibrations, which necessarily bring up different feelings. Now when I use the term "feeling", I'm not referring to emotions, although there is a thin cord linking both phenomenons. The feeling I'm referring to is the resonance brought up by the vibration of the word. When we know that different words will bring up different vibratory frequencies, then we might as well explore them, and see what the possibilities are.
The "Aum" or "Om" mantra is meant to be the sound of creation. When I vibrate it, I feel a profound harmony taking over my whole body, a feeling of being connected, not to something outside of me, but of being connected to myself. I believe the "Aum" version is the best because if you were to pay attention to the shapes that your mouth assumes when vibrating it, you'll see that it starts by an expansion (A), contracts itself (U), and then finally folds upon itself (M). Thus when you vibrate Aum, you are going through the major vibratory levels that can be produced with our vocal cords, and it does indeed seem to mirror the creative process, if one pays close attention to the motion of the mouth. But this is an aspect I'll develop when I'll open another thread dedicated to the Verbum.
I'm really beginning to accept the idea that God created through speech, the way it's mentioned in the Sepher yetzirah, because sound seems to be the only sort of vibration that can exist independently of any other. It's also the only one that we can produce at will and in so many different "shades", so to speak. Not only that, but if we study the subject of the Tattwas (the ethers of the indian philosophy), they tell us quite clearly that although people say that the Akasa tattwa is the one responsible for the propagation of light, well, it simply isn't the case. The propagation of light belongs to the Taija Tattwa (lumineferous ether). They DO admit that the Akasa Tattwa was the first that came into existence, and that therefore the other four tattwas (similar to the four elements) spring from it, but how do they call this Akasa that has been dubbed Quintessence? Well, lo and behold, they say that the Akasa Tattwa is the SONORIFEROUS ether!! So before any type of existence was possible, before even light, the first type of existence was in the form of sound. If we follow their lead, then there was no other way for God to create from this Akasa than through sound, and it's these different sonoriferous vibrations that brought about the other tattwas that could in turn give rise to new types of vibrations."In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God." Sound seems to be a very special feature of the world.
So if we admit that sounds have a special quality, then it would be good to vibrate as many sounds as possible within our bodies and note the effects. Maybe certain vibrations coupled with certain visualisations can achieve certain things?! well, Franz Bardon seemed to think that it was the case, and his book "key to the true Qabbalah" teaches how to harness these vibrations and speak in a "quadripolar" way (speaking with the spirit, soul, intellect and the gross material body, all at the same time). He claims that this leads to the developpement of the what might be called "the magical voice", or the "Verbum" (power of the word), whereby speech can be used to cause manifestation of phenomena. I cannot attest to wether this is true or not, as I have not yet taken his exercises seriously enough, but I invite everyone to try this out.
There is a religion called Eckankar (Religion of light and sound). They have a special word that they chant, and they claim that it's "a song to God". I don't know what the specifics of Eckankar are, but I can say that they place this particular mantra on a piedestal, and you'll understand why. Breathe in as deep as you can, then vibrate the word HUUUUUUUUuuuuuuu....... You have to feel it originating from your chest and then allowing it to spread in whatever direction feels natural. I have a variation where I vibrate BHUUUUUR, but the effects aren't all that different. The effects in question can be summed up in one word: floating. Now I'm not saying that you'll physically float, but it would feel as if you were. Make no mistake, this is the vibration for bliss and inner harmony. If done long enough, you'll really feel like you're about to levitate, but I don't believe it will happen unless coupled with the right visualisations and a concentration ability sharper than a razor blade, but I believe it CAN aid for levitation.
Anyway's that's all for now. I'll soon open a thread on the Verbum with more details and theories. But in order for it to be complete I'll also have to speak of the Tattwas. I definitely think it needs to be researched in depth, for the mightiest powers of creation seem to be concealed in sound.
