My Grandfather, A Sorcerer

Posted by , 01 February 2012 · 282 views

I was discussing something with my godfather (which is a whole other post. BTW) and he ended mentioning a little history regarding my grandfather, basically it was THE “origin” story on how he became a sorcerer.

See below, pretty much the original excerpt from our FB message since I am too lazy to re-write what was already written.

Have you seen the movie Da Vinci Code? [1] It’s about the secret society of the Masons. Freemasonry is an organization of men based on the “fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man,” using builders’ tools as symbols to teach basic moral truths generally accepted by persons of good will. Their motto is “morality in which all men agree, that is, to be good men and true.” It is religious in that a belief in a Supreme Being and in the immortality of the soul are the two prime requirements for membership, but it is nonsectarian in that no religious test is used. The purpose of Freemasonry is to enable men to meet in harmony, to promote friendship, and to be charitable. Its basic ideals are that all persons are the children of one God, that all persons are related to each other, and that the best way to worship God is to be of service to people.

Your Lolo/grandpa is a a Mason. [2] He doesn’t believe the priest but he believes in a Supreme Being. When he goes to church with us, he just stays outside. By being a mason he doesn’t believe in supernatural phenomena, ocult, witchcraft or voodoo practices or evil spirits…… until one day…… when he got very very sick, that’s a few months after he had a fight with our neighbor. [3]

Your lolo works in an airconditioned room, yet, he was sweating profusely like the size of peas and at times had a strange feeling of sickness or pain in his body. Because of this your Lola Trining consulted an herbalist/spiritualist like an exorcist because their doctor (science that is) can’t diagnose the type of sickness your lolo has for months.

To make the story short during the healing process by the herbalist/spiritualist, [4] your lolo’s voice changed drastically, seems like he’s possesed like in the movies. The herbalist/spiritualist invoked some prayers after that your lolo’s body was whipped by the stingray’s tail, his legs were poured with boiling water, yet no scar nor burn appeared on his body after the process. It was actually the witch who was being hurt. I witnessed everything with my own eye and your lola/grandma was amazed that I remembered everything when I asked her about those things I saw when I was a young child.

My father/your lolo got well and the herbalist/spiritualist advised us to move to a different house because he said everytime your lolo will be seen in good health by our neighbor he’ll run to the guy who practices witchcarft and make your lolo sick again.

Your lolo became a herbalist/spiritualist also after the incident, he was taught to fight off witchcraft by the same guy who healed him and was able to heal people of sickness which doctors (science) can not heal. He even has a book in hebrew which was translated into roman alphabet with all the words Jesus has spoken to heal people during Jesus’s time. I remember, too, when I was a child, I was so sick, my cough won’t go away for weeks. Your lolo wrote something on cigarette paper, made the sign of the cross, did some prayer, burned the paper, put the ashes on a glass of water, stir it and ask me to drink the mixture. I could hardly drink it, so I closed my eyes just so I could swallow it, the next day my cough was gone. [5]

[1] I never liked that movie.

[2] There’s a whole context regarding why he ended up sharing me this story.

[3] Unless I’m thinking of a different Masons, I assumed they dabbled in magick as well…..

[4] Mirrors my own initiation to the path.

[5] The original freestyle sorcerer, lol.
